My Little Corner That Feels Like an Instant Hug
For me, having a sacred space at home is everything. When I need to decompress, meditate, or just sit with a sound bath and let the world fade away, the last thing I want is clutter or a room that doesn’t feel warm and safe.
It's December here in Washington, and my fireplace is ready for the holidays.
But I still make room for my crystals, sage, and singing bowl ☺️.

If you’ve ever tried to relax and felt pulled in a hundred directions by your surroundings, I get it. I’ve been there too.
Here are a few steps that help me step into that quiet, intentional place whenever I need it. Maybe one or two will feel right for you. 🤗
1. Start with a clean, clear space
I love meditating in front of my fireplace. Before anything else, I make sure the mantle is tidy, the glass is wiped down, the floor is clear with no logs, dust, or Perseus' toys 😸.
If your spot is in the bedroom or a corner of the living room, just give it a quick refresh. Wipe surfaces, vacuum, light a candle, open a window. Fresh light and energy makes all the difference.
2. Bring in a few meaningful pieces
I keep a couple of plants nearby (they feel like quiet friends), a crystal or two that matches whatever I’m working through, and a simple notebook for anything that wants to come through. Nothing fancy, just things that say, “You’re home. You’re safe.”

3. Choose a place where you won’t be disturbed
Solitude matters to me. Even fifteen undisturbed minutes can feel like a lifetime of peace. Find a corner, a room, or even a closet if that’s what you have. Close the door. Let everyone know this is your “do not disturb” time.
4. Cleanse the energy before (and after)
I’ll light a little palo santo or sage, or mist the air with a calming essential oil. Then I ring one of my singing bowls slowly around the space. These frequencies seems to lift anything heavy that’s lingering. It’s like hitting reset for the room, and for me.
5. Soften the light and set the mood
Harsh overhead lights pull me right out of my body. Instead, I light a candle or use a small salt lamp. The glow feels like a hug. Warm, gentle, and just enough to see without straining.

These are the simple things I do throughout my week to keep my mind steady and my heart open. There’s no one “right” way, only what helps you feel grounded and held.
If something here speaks to you, try it out. Start small. Your space doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to feel like yours.
I’m sending you the biggest, warmest hug right now. You deserve this moment of peace. ☺️
❤️ With love, Travis & Perseus 🐾
