How the 'Kitty Distribution System' Brought My Fluffy Soulmate to Me

But about 11 years ago, everything changed... because of a cat I didn’t even know I was waiting for.

At the time, I loved solitude.
I didn’t want the responsibility of taking care anything but myself.

A pet? That felt like too much.

🐱 Divine (or Feline?) Intervention

My friend’s mom had recently adopted a cat from the shelter.
But when she got there, a second little fluff named Perseus refused to let her leave without him.

So she brought him home too.

A few days later, we got a call:

“Come meet the new cats!”

We did.

We were all sitting on the couch as the cats wandered around.
Perseus hopped from lap to lap, pausing briefly on each one... until he got to mine.

He sat.
He looked right into my eyes.
And he stayed.

Something clicked.
I nearly cried. 🥹

In that moment, I just knew:

“This cat is meant for me.”

But he wasn’t mine.

Little did I know, the Kitty Distribution System had already filed my application (more on that later). 😹

💔 Letting Go… Sort Of

On the way home, I couldn’t stop talking about him.
There was something between us I couldn’t explain, and definitely couldn’t shake.

I kept thinking of ways to go back. Excuses.
I was already halfway in.

But I took a breath, let it go, and told myself:

“Maybe this just isn’t meant to be.”

✨ A Twist of Fate

Then… just a few days later, I got the call.

My friend was furious.

Apparently, Perseus and their other cat had gotten into a scuffle, and scratched the new leather couch. 😅

“I want him out of my house today,” he said.
“Can you take him?”

My heart skipped.

“Yes… but only if he’s mine for good.”

If Perseus came home with me, he was never leaving again.

And he hasn’t.

😸 The Universe Delivers in Mysterious Ways

There’s a running joke online about the “Kitty Distribution System”.  A mysterious force that matches humans with the cats they didn’t know they needed.

It's the Universe working in a fluffy disguise.

And Perseus?
He’s the best special delivery I could’ve asked for.

Sometimes, the things that ARE meant for us don’t show up the way we expect.
They come through detours, frustrations — even scratched-up furniture. 😅

But when something flows into your life effortlessly, like Perseus did into mine, it’s not random.

It’s a sign.
A whisper from the Universe.
A gentle yes.

Perseus showed up when I didn’t even know I needed him.
He’s been my companion, my healer, and my reminder that:

“The best gifts are often the ones we never saw coming.”

Thanks for reading our story.
Perseus and I are sending you warm purrs, huge hugs, and a reminder:

💫 You’re right where you need to be.
💛 The Universe always has your back.

With love,
Travis and Perseus 😽
