The Land That Heals Me

One thing you might not know about me is that I’m the caretaker of my grandparents’ old home. I have the beautiful gift of tending two acres on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington.

Living in the family house is a blessing, but it comes with a lot of work. From spring through autumn I put in my regular 40 hours on Healing Vibrations… and another 20 hours a week keeping the land alive.

Grab your imaginary walking shoes (or go barefoot like I do). Let me take you on a little tour of the two acres that keep me grounded.

First Stop: From lawn to private park

Five years ago this whole hillside was just a giant lawn. So I grabbed the mower and started carving curly paths through the tall grass like a maze. Now it’s my private park. Wildflowers pop up everywhere, butterflies follow us, and the paths are perfect for barefoot morning meditation walks.

Left Turn: The Berry Patch

Summer strawberries, raspberries, elderberries, and entire rows of blackberries that grow wild in patches all around the yard. I eat them straight off the vine while I work. The birds and I have an agreement. They get half, I get half. 🤗

Up the Hill: My Tree Babies

I planted most of them when they were knee-high to me. Now the alders and cedars are almost taller than the house. I still climb the big tree at the very top just to wave at the eagles. Yes, I’m thirty-something and still climbing trees.😃

The Secret Spot

My favorite retreat is a clearing with a perfect view of the Puget Sound Islands. When everything feels too much, I come here, play one bowl quietly, and let the forest answer back. It feels like magic every time.

Back Down By the Garden Shed

If you could see my callused hands, it's from splitting firewood, hauling brush, and hugging trees (literally). Sixty hours a week between the soundbaths and the land, and I wouldn’t trade a single sweaty minute.

This property isn’t just where I live. It’s one of my biggest wellness tools. Healing comes in sound and soil.

Wherever you are right now,I hope you have (or can find) your own little patch that feels like this. Even one tree to hug or one pot of herbs on the windowsill counts.

Thanks for ‘walking’ with me today. It felt good having you along.

Big sun-warmed hug from the peninsula,

Travis & Perseus 😺
